I first sketched a drawing a Yangtze finless porpoise emerging from the water- an idea by Ms. V. Sketching your drawing for a print is very useful as a guide for cutting the linoleum.
I redrew the Yangtze finless porpoise onto the linoleum and carved the thin outlines with a #1 carving tool and the background with a much larger tool.
I finished and was ready to start to register the paint onto the linoleum.
I rolled out the paint into a rectangle just about as large as the linoleum block.
I drew the corner of the linoleum block in the middle of my paper so placement can be much easier.
I transferred the paint on the linoleum and rolled it out till all was covered. I, then put it down on to the paper and rolled it out and flipped it over and rolled some more - picture to the left.
I peeled of the paper at one of the top corners and
here is one of my first prints!
